For the Week of May 7, 2007

Posted by alicemercer on 7th May 2007

We will continue reading Old Yeller and the Bear this week, and because of state testing, there will be no homework this week. Homework will return next Monday evening.

We will be doing a lot of work on our unit projects, and our Mother’s Day project (I won’t put it up here in case your parents are looking).

We are returning to our Math text, Saxon Math 76 this week, and there will be a Math test at the end of the week.

Here are links to pictures.

Please review our comments from last week. I would like you to either respond to my comments, or to the comments of a peer:

You will also need to leave a comment for this week. Everyone is required to leave a post on how their week went on Thursday or Friday by clicking on Comments below, you can then leave another comment in one of the following places:

  • This week’s math question
  • Add comments on SSR selections you have read, paper and print stories you have read, or add a story of your own
  • Our unit theme, going west
  • New stuff on our ELD page

Answer this question on Thursday or Friday: How did your week go? What went right, what went wrong?

Mathematics Links for 5/7/2007

Posted by alicemercer on 7th May 2007

Here are our links for Mathematics this week:

  • The GoldenRatio a proportion/ratio dating back to Ancient Greece
  • Pi illustration
  • Tessellations, which are related to transformations which we will be studying

I got some great answers to last week’s math question, but the students did not give a clear explanation of why you came up with your answer. Here is last week’s question, and the answers. See if you can explain it better there.

This weeks question is, what is greater, half of 250, or 25% of 500?
